This mechanism might have contributed to evolutionary changes in arthropod neurogenesis. We are therefore analysing the expression pattern of homologues of the Drosophila neuroblast identity genes (e.g. segment polarity genes, dorso-ventral patterning genes) during the whole course of neurogenesis in Tribolium.
